This page speaks to two audiences. Parents who have been told they can request an independent educational evaluation and are not sure what that means. And schools, districts, and colleges that need an outside doctoral evaluator.
An independent educational evaluation is conducted by a qualified professional who is not employed by the school district. Parents generally learn the term at the point they disagree with a district's own evaluation of their child.
Dr. Jovanovic conducts these as a doctoral psychologist. The report is written so it can be read and used by school staff, district personnel, and any advocate involved.
Districts, private schools, charter networks, and colleges reach the same wall from the other direction. A student needs an evaluation that staff are not licensed or resourced to perform.
Dr. Jovanovic works with institutions on an ongoing basis, handling evaluations as they arise rather than case by case. For schools and districts with recurring need, that arrangement is generally the practical one. Students are scheduled to come to his office for testing.
